Synopsis by Mark Deming

A rent-a-cop tries to pass himself off as a real lawman in this short comedy. Norm (Daniel Jones) is edging into middle age and not especially happy with his life or his career; his marriage has fallen apart and his wife won primary custody of their young son Pat (Aidan Schraff), while he's taken on a tedious job as a security guard at a shopping mall. When Norm picks up Pat while still wearing his uniform, the boy asks his father if he's a policeman. Norm says yes, and begins spinning tall tales of his exciting adventures capturing bad guys. But the longer Norm lies to Pat about life as a lawman, the more he has to do to back up his fiction until Norm is in almost as much danger as he would be patrolling the mean streets. The first film from writer and director John Patton Ford, Patrol was an official selection at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
