Review by Craig Butler

Fans of 1960's TV classic The Man from U.N.C.L.E. should thoroughly enjoy One Spy Too Many, a feature made from combining a 2-part episode and which was released in theatres in Europe and some other overseas markets. Its television origins are clear; sets and lighting are clearly not up to the standards of a major studio theatrical release, and there are clear "commercial coming up" climaxes scattered throughout. However, the writing has the same fun, adventurous style that one expects from the series (especially before it entered its "spoof" phase, when the tone changed from fun to silly). If the plot is a bit far-fetched and if some of it doesn't make sense, it's still enjoyable -- especially the subplot in which Robert Vaughn is amusingly manipulated by a female colleague into thinking they have a romantic history. (That female colleague is fetchingly played by Yvonne Craig, better known to many for her role as Batgirl on the Batman TV series). Vaughn and co-star David McCallum are their usual entertaining selves, displaying a unique chemistry. Dorothy Provine is a bit annoying as the admittedly-annoying wife of Rip Torn, but Torn is tremendous fun as the man who would conquer the world.
