Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Ryo Iwamatsu makes his directorial debut with this bittersweet marriage drama. Yoshinori (Kaoru Kobayashi) not only is the star salesman of his cemetery real estate agency, but he believes in his product thoroughly. He tells one hopeless indecisive client (Sachiko Hidari) that buying a grave not only ensures that a couple will have a place to rest after death, but "it affirms that they will remain together in the future." Unfortunately, the truth seems to be far from his sales pitch in regards to his bored, increasingly distant wife, Atsuko (Yoshiko Tanaka). Married for ten years against their parents' wishes, the two are childless and still struggle to make ends meet on Yoshinori's modest salary. One day, she announces that she has made a male friend in her leather working class. Feeling threatened, Yoshinori throws a fit. This proves to be only one of many stresses in his life. The above client keeps changing her mind; another named Shuzenji (Kiyoshiro Imawano) demands the impossible by insisting on a grave plot in Tokyo with a view of Mt. Fuji; his spiteful mother-in-law visits; and in one beer-soaked night, he sleeps with an office clerk. Full of pent up frustration and guilt, he confronts Atsuko's fey friend and again throws a fit.
