Director Marcelo Bertalmío offers an endearing look at a decidedly bleak topic with this tale of a kind-hearted but put-upon soul who finally decides to end it all. Basilio has a gentle soul a huge heart; the only problem is that no one really seems to notice just how wonderful a person he truly is. His wife puts him down every chance she gets, his colleagues make him the butt of their every joke, and even the man who walks his dog despises him. When the weight of the world simply becomes too much to bear, Basilio finally determines to end it all. But when his suicide attempt is interrupted by a twelve-year-old girl, a noise-pollution officer, and an endearingly absent-minded woman who just can't seem to keep track of her mobile phone, Basilio soon begins to view the oppressive city in an entirely new, refreshingly optimistic light.
