Synopsis by Ed Atkinson
Former NBA player and quintessential underdog Bill Walton hosts this NBA Video release investigating the long history of the league's many unlikely successes and playoff upsets. Walton, a rebel in the NBA and current color commentator for NBC Sports, takes every opportunity to wax poetic on his contribution to the Portland Trailblazers' surprise championship season in 1977. Also covered are the rags-to-riches stories of Scottie Pippen, an unlikely superstar who came from a small college program, and Kevin Garnett, who skipped college altogether and jumped directly from high school into the professional ranks. Walton may unnerve some viewers, but the stories and the footage will definitely interest most basketball fans, many of whom are often pulling for the underdog and looking for the upset themselves!
