Synopsis by Alice Day
In contrast to the deserts and drought-plagued regions of Africa, the Swahili Coast is characterized by the waters of the Indian Ocean and white beaches. However, finding a means of support can be challenging, especially for individual fishermen who ply their trade armed with only a spear. Africa, Pt. 7: Coast examines the manner in which Issa Simai makes a living, and also follows his accomplishments on the soccer field. A player with the Leopards, the most competitive team in Zanzibar, Simai has a chance at the playoffs, but only if he and his teammates can afford the trip to Dar es Salaam.
