Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
Based on a novel by Irmgard Keun written in 1937, this film is a satire on the up-and-coming Germans of that time who desired to make the leap from comfortably well-off to rich and/or powerful. The bawdy cabarets and omnipresent swastikas and military police form a backdrop for these social climbers, as they are observed by an older teenage girl.
