Review by Buzz McClain

You cannot judge this first feature by director Justin Dossetti by comparing it to studio movies or even better-financed independents. On its own merits, My Sweet Killer is an okay film, but given that it's a debut feature shot on a painfully low budget, it's a very good film that gets bonus points for restraint. The horror here is not in the body count but in the eyes of Charlie Cavenaugh (Kirk Harris), which grow deeper and darker as the film clicks along. He's a scary dude, one that might make viewers think of Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, and as viewers watch an entire film based on his sad experience they may find themselves never quite rooting for him as much as they wind up understanding him, and that's pretty scary in itself. My Sweet Killer impresses with its cunning intensity.
