Documentarist Solo Avital helms the nonfiction outing More Than 1,000 Words. A telling biographical portrait of Israeli photojournalist and commercial photographer Ziv Koren, the film follows the artist over the vicissitudes of his day to day. A tall, imposing, slightly intimidating figure, Koren perceives it as his mission to capture the most intense stages of Middle Eastern social crisis - from the casualties and homicides of Palestinian suicide bomber attacks to heartbreaking poverty in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Through it all, Koren insists with gut-wrenching, intransigent conviction that he holds no political or national bias - and shoots images only to unveil the truth, whatever it may be. Meanwhile, Koren's wife, the gorgeous supermodel-cum-actress Galit Gutman, sits at home on folded hands - expectant with her second child, feeling concurrently abandoned by her workaholic husband and terrified for Koren's safety. The title of the film, of course, refers to the tremendous potency of the images produced by Koren, so instrumental in making the outside world aware of conditions in his geographic region.
