When the combined stresses of motherhood, wifehood, and maintaining a successful career become too much to take, devoted yet overworked mom Alice McGrath (Molly Shannon) patricians her personalities in order to get through the day without suffering a complete mental breakdown. Alice is the mother of energetic six year old twins. Keeping the boys content, nurturing her marriage, and remaining a successful environmental activist is more than a full-time job - it's a never-ending uphill battle. One day, Alice finally bottoms out. Her solution - allow a different personality to take over every time she faces a new challenge. At first it seems like the perfect solution; Alice is finally able to get everything done without feeling completely overwhelmed. But before long Alice's multiple personalities are turning her life upside down, leading her to realize that it's better to deal with the stress head on rather than toying with her mental health.
