A profile of Canadian track and field star Harry Jerome, who staged an astonishing comeback after a debilitating leg injury, and whose fierce determination to persevere inspired an entire nation with in an era of intense social and political turbulence. Jerome was just 19-years-old when he became a serious Olympic contender in 1959. Three years later, a debilitating leg injury threatened to cut his athletic career short. But in an era when racial tensions and political divisions in Canada threatened to destabilize the entire country, Jerome's incredible comeback inspired people of all backgrounds and political affiliations. In this documentary, director Charles Officer traces Jerome's life and career from his record breaking early achievements, to his untimely death at the age of 42, speaking with friends, family, and fellow athletes to offer a vivid portrait of a truly remarkable man.
