The folks at Universal kept their tongues firmly planted in their cheeks when they crafted this little mystery-thriller, in which the studio stock company travels from New York to Mexico without ever truly leaving the confines of the back lot. But Arthur Lubin paces the story for maximum effect and a good cast -- that includes such veteran whodunit specialists as Ralph Bellamy, Margaret Lindsay, and Jerome Cowan -- keeps the pot boiling merrily. Meet the Wildcat, in fact, is a typical example of a forgotten programmer that actually has more charm and exuberance than many a faded "blockbuster."
