Free spirit Maya (Amber Stevens West) travels to Africa, where she gets engaged to a charming foreigner (Demetrius Grosse) against the wishes of her overbearing father (Keith David). After she catches her fiancé cheating and calls their engagement off right before their wedding, she's too ashamed to tell her family the truth, so she recruits an American criminal, Malcolm (Shamier Anderson), to pose as her fiancé.
