Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
In 1953, the year after Fulgencio Batista staged a military coup and installed himself as dictator in Cuba, revolutionary students attacked Batista's military installation at Moncada and were routed and chased down by the military as they fled, protected in the homes of nearby farmers. This film handles the Moncada attack and its outcome, attempting to combine a semi-documentary, semi-fictional accounting of the event, but is not always successful since it has no firm storyline to tie things together, and it resorts to clichéd revolutionary and political jargon to embroider its tale.
