Synopsis by Gönül Dönmez-Colin
Based on true events about the urban guerrilla movement of the 1970's during the military regime in Turkey, the film narrates the story of five young men who kidnap an American soldier in an effort to save their friend who is sentenced to death. The title of this political drama alludes to an African saying, "Never hold a leopard's tail, if you do it, never let go." Despite obvious shortcomings of a first film, Leoparin Kuyrugu captures audience attention with its sound script, which deservedly won the "Best Script" award of the national competition at the 1998 Antalya Film Festival.
