Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The Argentinian La Dama Duende (The Ghost Lady) is set in 18th-century Spain. The title character, played by Delia Garces, is the widow of a Peruvian nobleman. Forced by tradition to remain in mourning for several years, the widow escapes this fate by posing as a ghost. In this guise, she falls in love with a handsome army captain (Enrique Diosdado). Nobody believed La Dama Duende even in 1945, but it served as excellent escapist entertainment for a South American audience inundated by war news and internal political strife.
