Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Gyan Mukherjee directs this Bombay Talkies-produced melodrama. Half-brothers Ramesh (Ashok Kumar) and Mahesh (Shah Nawaz) are in love with the same woman, Geeta (Leela Chitnis). While Mahesh toils as a postman, Ramesh inherits all of his family's vast fortunes even though Mahesh is supposedly due half. Later, Mahesh's former sweetheart shows up to complicate his romantic designs on Geeta. A host of supporting characters including the kindly landowner, Mahesh's postmaster boss (V.H. Desai), and a dancer with a heart of gold (Mumtaz Ali) -- standards in Bombay Talkies films -- help out with the film's elaborate plot.
