A high school girl with a loose reputation and a taste for cough syrup discovers that saviors sometimes come in the least expected form in this wistful comedy from director Morgan Nichols. Life in the working class suburb of Portales, NM, leaves much to be desired if you find yourself alienated from the Christian masses like teenage Lily (Laura Lee Bahr), and her distant mother and dwindling friendships offer little solace in the face of a bleak future. When Lily meets a man named Jesus, she brings him home and announces to all that she has finally found her savior and new boyfriend, although this Jesus looks more like a migrant worker than the tradition interpretation of the son of God.
