Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Years before he became a comic foil to the likes of Laurel and Hardy, Arthur Housman was a star comedian in his own right for Thomas A. Edison's film company. In this one-reeler, in fact, he is supported by, among others, future comic star Oliver Hardy. Jack Kenwood (Housman) is editor of The Clarion, a newspaper that is not doing very well. In order to find advertisers, Kenwood starts knocking on the doors of various offices. The only problem is that each time, he interrupts the boss in the middle of an illicit romantic interlude with his secretary (Hardy plays one of the men thus engaged; a secretary in another scene is Gladys Leslie, who later was a star at Thanhouser). All of the men refuse to buy ad space in The Clarion. Finally, Kenwood drops in on his sweetheart, Lillian (Jean Dumar), who is a secretary, and finds her being romanced by her boss! He storms out and writes a scathing editorial about office romances and threatens to name names. Every man he visited believes that he is the one being lambasted, and they all show up to buy advertising space in the paper.
