In this charming comedy, May Allison plays Helen Corning, the speed demon daughter of a rich widow. She dashes around the roads of the small Southern town where she lives, upsetting an easy-driving young author, Brett Page (Robert Ellis) and knocking the tire off the buckboard of an auto belonging to Judge Carroll (Jay Dwiggins). As if that weren't enough, she sends a basket of eggs flying, all of which land on the judge's face. This is too much for him, so he throws Helen in jail for 30 days and refuses to grant bail to her mother (Maym Kelso) and her beau, Count Dronsky (Rex Cherryman). The town has a law that convicts can be hired out for 20 cents a day, so Brett Page, recalling his episode with Helen (not to mention her pretty face), hires her to work in his kitchen. The spoiled girl is disgusted with the situation at first, but of course she and Page wind up falling in love. Meanwhile, He mother pays a crook, "Hot Stove" Kelly (Bull Montana) to kidnap Helen and take her to another state. "Hot Stove" intends to take this idea one step further and hold the girl for ransom. But Page comes to the rescue and arranges to wed Helen. Mrs. Corning and Count Dronsky give pursuit, which leaves the couple no alternative but to get marred in Page's car as it flies down the road.
