Review by Derek Armstrong

Taking its title from the greeting offered by a bad alien right before he unleashes hell, I Come in Peace is a throwaway sci-fi flick that typifies the low-level action vehicles that became Dolph Lundgren's signature after his debut in Rocky IV. It's one of the few movies whose title seems to exist solely to set up a wicked rejoinder for the hero in the climactic scene: the very last time the alien speaks the words, Lundgren does his best Arnold imitation with the cheeky one-liner, "And you go in pieces." Anyone who thinks this is spoiling too much of the plot has way too high a level of expectation for this movie. At its best, it does produce a dark urban tone that is obviously inspired by a dozen better movies, but still works pretty well here. At its worst, it is an embarrassing retread of those movies with little individuality or redeeming value. Still, those looking for an undemanding shoot-em-up with alien overtones should find enough to keep them from squirming.
