Synopsis by Betsy Boyd
Part of the History's Turning Points series, which explores pivotal moments in world history, History's Turning Points: The Black Death re-creates the events surrounding the calamitous 14th century plague. In 1347, a ship full of plague-stricken passengers reached Venice and was sent into quarantine. Rats made the problem unstoppable. Three years later, a full third of the European population was lost to the devastating epidemic. One of the worst medical emergencies in history, the Black Death earned its name. The program uses on-location dramatizations to tell the story.
