Synopsis by Mark Deming
Experimental filmmaker Sasha Waters offers a visual meditation on women and mortality in this powerful short subject. Using a variety of images to document a woman's journey through life, motherhood, disease and finally death, Her Heart Is Washed In Water And Then Weighed focuses on the physical and philosophical journey through this world and the landmarks we leave behind. Drawing its title from a clinical procedure common in human autopsies, Her Heart Is Washed In Water And Then Weighed was screened as part of the short film series at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
