Review by Hans J. Wollstein

"What did you expect coming to a man's apartment after midnight!" the caddish Kenneth Thomson calmly states when his conquest, Mary Carlisle, makes a desperate attempt to escape his clutches, her attire in some disarray. Her Mad Night is that kind of old-fashioned hokum: 1932-style sensationalism masquerading as an important discourse on the ills of premarital sex. Carlisle, who was voted a Wampas Baby Star that same year, survived both Thomson's unwanted attention and this film with her career intact, but veteran silent stars Irene Rich and Conway Tearle almost did not. Looking somewhat the worse for wear, Rich and Tearle, respectively in their forties and fifties, play a couple meeting cute on an ocean voyage, and both are referred to as "young" several times. Neither makes much of an impression and Her Mad Night, despite its alluring title, is mostly talk.
