For viewers who thought Stargate was brilliant, Guardian is for them. For those who thought Stargate was a bunch of sci-fi hooey that made little sense, Guardian will seem like déjà vu. The budget was spent very well on the production aspects -- the explosions, sets, costumes, and special effects are all adequate for the genre -- but the script wasn't read until everyone was on the set and ready to start shooting. How else to explain such a hopelessly inept story? Just try to keep it straight without losing your mind: There's the invisible demon, the red powder drug, the fugitive child, the mysterious woman (Stacy Oversier) who does Matrix-like wall climbing, the sadistic drug dealer (Ice-T), the invincible FBI agent, and the hero's wife who is in a hospital bed ready to expire at any minute (what does she have to do with anything?). There is simply no way for the story to get up a head of speed, and the ending is even worse. Viewers are better off renting Stargate again; at least that drivel had Kurt Russell.
