Review by Buzz McClain

Call it Scream-Lite. This low-budget indie is admirably assembled and maintains low-key suspense throughout, despite actors who are in their first -- and, let's be honest, probably last -- movie. Conventions of the genre are exploited rather than parodied, as in Scream, but the twist at the end is capably concealed and should amuse undiscriminating horror fans, although it gives the horror elements an uncomfortable feeling of mirth. Director Boris Pavlovsky gets credit for shooting this with no discernible budget and with amateur actors, still managing to come off with something that's nearly as entertaining -- at least within the low-budget, indie-horror genre -- as fare by more experienced filmmakers. Those who require competence in every aspect of their horror should pass, but those who have seen everything else might want to check it out.
