Review by Hans J. Wollstein

Robert Florey may have been one of Hollywood's more inventive directors but there is little evidence of the Frenchman's cinematic flourishes in this whodunit blunder, which moves at a snail's pace to a foregone conclusion. Along the way, Florey manages to make Glenda Farrell appear dull and that is almost a crime. Mary Brian, Ben Lyon, and the ill-fated Peggy Shannon do what they can with the material but are soundly defeated by an obtuse script and Florey's unimaginative direction. Stanley Logan is credited as dialogue director.
