Review by Donald Guarisco

This Playboy-produced stab at softcore erotica is a surprisingly tiresome affair. Frank And I should have been a sure thing for fans of this genre because it has a storyline that offers plenty of kink and many opportunities for erotic interludes. Unfortunately, the script rushes through the plot in a way that offers little narrative tension and, despite plenty of gratuitous nudity ,Gerard Kikoine's direction never brings much erotic flair to the goings-on. Even worse, leads Jennifer Inch and Christopher Pearson deliver performances that are as dull as they are inept (neither one ever appears to be in-the-moment, even during the sex scenes). The nicest thing that can be said about Frank And I is that it has a high level of production value, with handsome art design and a rich orchestral score. That said, no amount of production value can make up for the film's dreary approach to the erotic. As a result, even the most patient devotees of late-night cable fare are likely to lose interest in Frank And I long before the credits roll.
