Murky, badly photographed, and, in most cases, badly acted as well, The Fighting Lady was produced in 1934, presumably to cash in on whatever was left of Peggy Shannon's box-office allure. A successor of sorts to Clara Bow, the redheaded Shannon had quickly fallen on hard times and her death in 1941 was attributed to a long battle with alcoholism. Director Carlof F. Borcosque hailed from Chile and The Fighting Lady proved his only English language assignment in Hollywood.
