Review by Todd Kristel

Falling Rocks is a murder mystery in the spirit of And Then There Were None that keeps us guessing along with the characters as they try to figure out what's happening to them. This movie features a highly photogenic cast, a relatively easy-to-follow narrative (linear except for the framing sequence), and a somewhat mechanical screenplay that emphasizes plot twists over psychological complexity and emotional depth. Aided by proficient performances and striking location photography, the filmmakers slowly reveal information that points the viewer in different directions while withholding the crucial revelation until the end. Some viewers may lose interest because the characters aren't sufficiently engaging, the plot twists aren't sufficiently plausible, and the film's surprises aren't sufficiently unpredictable. Those who are willing to accept the film's limitations, however, may still enjoy this update of a classic murder mystery formula.
