Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Hannu Leminen, one of Finland's most prolific postwar directors, was responsible for the romantic comedy En Ole Kreivitar. The title translates as Countess for a Night, which pretty much sums up the plotline. Helen Kara, star of many another Leminen production, heads the cast as a clothing-store mannequin who poses as a noblewoman. This characterization represented a change of pace for Kara, better known for her lachrymose dramatic roles. En Ole Kreivitar is typical of the sort of escapist fare which thrived in Finnish theatres until the country's cinematic pinnacle years of the 1950s.
