Synopsis by Dan Pavlides
The town of Weiszenberg, Austria is thrown into economic turmoil when the local textile plant is closed in 1933. Although a fictionalized and plodding drama, this feature is based on extensive research about the unemployment of the area and the factors that led to the real-life plant closing. The region becomes another casualty of the Great Depression that also serves as a fertile breeding ground for extremist movements fueled by intolerance and aggravated by racism and poverty.
