Synopsis by Maggie Sadler
Directors Christopher Frierson and Clark Slater followed controversial yet influential hip-hop artist DMX, or Earl Simmons, for a year to make this documentary. The story first finds DMX on parole from a West Virginia prison, where he served time for tax evasion. The film portrays the various ups and downs of DMX since his release in January 2019 as he struggles to insert his way back into the familiars of his life, including his music, his performances, his family, and his supporters, all while experiencing the joys of living and balancing them with occasional bouts with his personal demons.
