German film luminary Hans Moser plays the title role in Der Onkel aus America. Moser is cast as a bombastic Texan who throws his German nephew's household into a tizzy. Since it is assumed that every Texan is a millionaire, Moser's relatives fall over themselves to curry favor with their "wealthy" Uncle. Alas, the gentleman from Texas doesn't have a penny to his name. Even so, just the thought that prosperity is just around the corner prompts Moser's family into rediscovering their own moneymaking potential -- and enriching themselves in the process. Der Onkel aus America is a remake of a 1931 German comedy, also directed by Carl Boese.
