This unconventional love story between two of France's well-known writers is told in this biographical drama directed and co-written by Lou Jeunet. Though Pierre (Niels Schneider) and Marie (Noémie Merlant) love each other, Marie chooses to marry Pierre’s friend Henri (Benjamin Lavernhe) in order to follow her father’s wishes, sending Pierre on a trip to Algeria to mend his heart and find inspiration in erotic photography. Upon his return, Marie declares her love for him, and they begin their controversial yet famously noted affair. Co-starring Camélia Jordana and Amira Casar.
