Although he would appear in several Westerns to come, this was Montie Montana's only starring vehicle, and it is easy to see why. Even more wooden than Reb Russell, the non-actor whom he had replaced, Montana was definitely a better rodeo performer than thespian. Today, the name Montie Montana may ring a bell for devotees of the annual Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, CA, in which he became a regular performer. He died of a stroke in 1998.
