Only the effervescence of Thelma Todd saves this lackluster film from oblivion. Todd was borrowed from Hal Roach for the occasion, probably on the behest of her friend and sometime companion, director Roland West, who was determined to turn her into a dramatic star. Unfortunately, just like West's own Corsair (1931), Cheating Blondes is a lackadaisical affair not worthy of her considerable talents. It would be re-released to television in 1952 under the more descriptive title of Girls in Trouble.
