Synopsis by Nathan Southern
With his documentary Che Guevara: Where You'd Never Imagine Him, filmmaker Manuel Pérez paints a highly intimate portrait of Cuban revolutionary leader Ernesto "Che" Guevara (1928-1967), using archival film and photographs to trace the arc of Guevara's 39-year life. Pérez touches on such subjects as Guevara's childhood in Argentina, his infatuation with the Spanish Civil War, and the now-famous consciousness-raising motorcycle trip dramatized in Walter Salles's The Motorcycle Diaries. In the process, the filmmaker reveals the personal story behind one of history's most complex and oft-mythologized figures.
