Review by Hans J. Wollstein

The team of Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell went out with a whisper rather than a bang, truth be told. The top romantic pairing of the late silent era was showing quite a bit of strain by 1934 and Change of Heart proved the team's farewell. As a drama, the film isn't much; four youngsters (or supposed youngsters, at least) travel from Los Angeles to Gotham by air, squabble a bit, and make up. Gaynor and Farrell are pleasant enough, but Change of Heart truly belongs to the secondary team of James Dunn and Ginger Rogers, who stubbornly refuse to take themselves serious. The cross-country plane trip is actually the film's most interesting aspect, what with rare aerial footage of Los Angeles and Manhattan filmed in late 1933.
