Synopsis by Mark Deming
Jean-Daniel Pollet directed this story of spiritual research and study. Linda (Valentine Vidal) is a young woman whose significant other, Sebastien (Alan Beigel), has set out on a voyage to get in touch with his spiritual self. While he's gone, Sebastien has asked Linda to take a pilgrimage of her own; per his instructions, Linda visits the rural home of Mikael (Michael Lonsdale), where she's given a large collection of photographs and a series of taped lectures by Sebastien. As Linda listens to Sebastien's talks, she tries to organize the pictures into a coherent order that will give the images greater meaning, as well as revealing a side of herself she's never fully understood.
