Peter Metoyer (Richard Romain), the heir to one of Louisiana's wealthiest African-American families, returns to his ancestral land to claim his inheritance. Upon his return, the outspoken Maria Mathis (Tommye Myrick) captures his attention, and he strives to win her affection despite her reservations.
