Synopsis by Janiss Garza

In a plot that was already older than time in 1917, Henry B. Walthall plays a man who is ruined by demon rum. His character, Southerner James Maxwell, has just married his sweetheart, Molly (Mary Charleston), and the pair go to New York, where he has landed a position with a cotton broker. Everything is going just fine until that fateful day when some friends from the office convince James to have a cocktail. He quickly slides downhill after that, losing both his job and Molly, who goes back home. Finally he realizes how low alcohol has brought him and he cleans up his act. Eventually he gets his job, and Molly, back.
