Norwegian actress Sonja Wiegert, best known for her work in Swedish films, made her Danish screen debut in Brevet Fra Afdode. The film's English-language title is Letter From the Dead, proof enough of the morbid nature of the story. Wiegert plays a hollow-eyed cocaine addict who is placed under the care of doctor Eyvind Svendsen. Far from the soul of compassion, Svendsen attempts to seduce Wiegert, then tries to kill her when she refuses his advances. She is saved by all-purpose hero Gunnar Lauring, who it is inferred will be instrumental in her ultimate regeneration.
