Hydraulic fracturing, the horizontal drilling practice known as "fracking," has been a hot-button issue in recent years, but the public has been denied the complete truth about the energy-producing process. Now, a new documentary, BREAKING FREE: THE SHALE ROCK REVOLUTION, lowers the temperature on the heated discussion to present a full and balanced examination of the process and its effects and results. Veteran director Robin Bossert's film, which will be available for digital download on March 17, introduces the subject of hydraulic fracturing in an easy-to-understand way, and is enhanced by stories of the people living in the towns where this shale rock revolution is taking place. The film reveals both the good and the bad, with the goal of informing and educating the public about the benefits of America breaking free from foreign sources to become energy independent in our lifetime. BREAKING FREE, which was an Official Selection at the 2014 Boston Film Festival, is divided into six sections that tell the whole story, including the history of drilling, how hydraulic fracturing works, and its environmental and economic impacts.
