Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The group Blackfield took shape in the mid-late 2000s as the brainchild of Israeli pop star Aviv Geffen and producer-cum-guitarist Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree and Bass Communion fame. The men conceived and founded the band en homage to the more legendary rock acts and LPs of the 1960s and '70s, and issued such well-received recordings as Blackfield (2005) and Blackfield II (2007). That outfit headlines the concert film Blackfield: NYC Live in New York City, shot before a live audience at Manhattan's famed Bowery Ballroom.
