This documentary presents the story of Hollywood funnyman Carl Reiner, whose show business career has spanned five decades. The multi-talented Reiner has been found on both sides of the camera, and also writes and produces. Archival clips chronicle the comedian's work on Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows, as well as clips of vintage Reiner on The Dick Van Dyke Show. Co-stars Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke discuss what it was like to work with the man who was as funny off-screen as on it. Steve Martin, whom Reiner directed in The Jerk, relates how his mentor used to encourage him to "funny it up." Interviews with family and friends reveal their deep affection for one of America's comic treasures.
