Synopsis by Alice Day

When two-year-old Hannah Shepard is diagnosed with autism, her loving family, which included three older sisters, rallied in support. Refusing to let Hannah retreat into another world, they research the disorder, and develop a method of treatment consisting of a one-on-one therapy program. They are supported in their efforts by educators and other helpful personnel, who are all dedicated to retrieving the child from behind an almost impenetrable door. Behind the Glass Door: Hannah's Story shows the progress made over a five-year period, and concludes with her entry into first grade at a public school.
