Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Before the Dawn was a "split reel" Lubin drama, apparently released in tandem with the studio's martial farce Wifey Away, Hubby at Play. After squandering their wealth, a selfish woman and her equally covetous daughter are reduced to a state of abject poverty. For appearance's sake, the two women go on living in their opulent mansion but are forced to sell their furniture. Hoping to recoup her fortune, the daughter allows a rich young snot to pay court to her, but he drops her when he learns that she's broke. True love appears at last in the form of a humble clerk whom the girl had previously spurned because of his lack of money.
