As Kara's husband and friends mourn the loss of the beloved pilot, Gaius Baltar's trial approaches and Admiral Adama is chosen by lottery to be an officer on the judge's tribunal. But Baltar's lawyer is killed in a terrorist attack, throwing the entire trial into chaos. As a result, Laura Roslin assigns the unflappable Romo Lampkin as the new defense attorney and Adama pulls Lee from the pilot squadron and places him in charge of Lampkin's security detail. When Lampkin reveals to an irritated Lee that his mentor was none other than Lee's grandfather Joseph Adama, the former pilot softens his stance a bit. Later, as Tyrol pursues Lampkin's fleeing cat, he discovers a bomb planted on the underside of the raptor that was supposed to transport the lawyer. With disaster just barely averted, Lampkin begins making his case. However, Lampkin's luck doesn't last and he is soon injured in a successful bomb attack. In the aftermath of the attack, Lee becomes convinced that it is his mission to help Lampkin defend Baltar at all costs.
