The long awaited showdown between Aang and the Fire Lord finally takes place, forcing Aagn to draw upon his dormant Avatar State in order to fight against him. The precarious hope that he will be able to defeat the Fire King without killing him keeps the rest of the group striving at their own tasks, avoiding the airships and controlling Azula in the hopes that this drawn out conflict will finally end.
